My name is Steve Flavel, and I’d like to introduce myself.

For 16 years I owned and operated my own independent pharmacy, which I sold in May 2025 — both to undertake reconstructive surgery and to free up time to complete my Full Scope of Practice qualification at JCU, which I am now in the final trimester of completing.

Now based in Maryborough, QLD, I am branching out to help fellow pharmacy owners grow their businesses through proven systems and programs. I currently offer locum services locally throughout the Maryborough/Hervey Bay region, and remotely to QLD and NSW pharmacies on a case-by-case basis.

Looking ahead, I am actively seeking to purchase another pharmacy (or several) within a two-hour drive of Maryborough — ideally alongside one or more partners who share a collaborative, team-based approach.

Beyond my soon-to-be-completed full scope qualifications, my key strengths lie in two areas:

Business acumen developed over 16 years of hands-on ownership.
High-level programming skills applied in a practical way to drive real efficiency gains — across staffing, deliveries, Webster packing, and automated workflows.

I am now extending this expertise into AI-driven data analysis, allowing for deeper insights into profitability and emerging opportunities. Importantly, none of my solutions are simply “handed down from head office” — they have been developed, tested, and proven through extensive real-world use in my own independent pharmacy.

Locum Rates.

Apart from the direct Maryborough/Hervey Bay area are in line with the locum rates as published in the most recent Ravens Locum Report, but without the locum booking fee (ave $195/day). This represents a significant saving over locum booking fees. A full quotation is given for your acceptace prior to the official booking is made. The same fee is charged for fuel allowance (99c/km) as per Ravens

Please note:: If the booking was made through LocumCo or Ravens, then, the fees they charge for acquiring my services on your behalf, naturally apply

Late Payment: Please note a late payment of 10% applies incrementally for EACH WEEK a locum service is not paid.

Superannuation Charged = standard government mandated rate + GST

The minimum locum rate for locum services in Maryborough is currently

$85/hr on weekdays and
$90 on weekends.

Higher hourly rates will obviously attract priority over competitors for my services.

All hourly rates will have super @ 12% and
GST @ 10% added on-top of the hourly rate
You have the option of me handling the Superannuation component on your behalf

Locum Service Provision

The minimum locum rate for locum services beyond 15 minutes of the city centre of Maryborough (e.g. Hervey Bay) is currently a Minimum of

$85/hr on weekdays
$90/hr on weekends
$85/hr for travel time (fixed for any day of the week)

You have the option in this form of nominating a higher value particularly if you aim to secure my services over your competitors.

All hourly rates will have GST @ 10% added on-top of the hourly rate

Superannuation Options

You have the option of either paying my Superannuation Directly OR having me organise this on your behalf.

The legally required superannuation is currently 12%

Travel Expenses

As with most other service based businesses, Travel time is payable where the client requires a significant distrance for the service provider to perform the service at the location (i.e. Pharmacy)

Travel Expenses area calculated on the distance and time via google maps from Central road Tinana to your pharmacy.. Utilsing this information shows the ideal closest distance and shortest time expected to travel to your pharmacy.

e.g. Freds Hervey Bay Pharmacy

Google maps indicates pharmacy location is 35km from Central Road Tinana with 30 mins (0.5 hr)Â travel each way. Fred wishes to engage our locum services for 2 days.. one on Friday and one on Saturday

Fuel Allowance = 35km x 99c/km x 2 (each way = $69.30 per day

Travel Time = $99/hr x 0.5 hr x 2 (each way) = $85.00 (Hourly rate any day of the week)

Total Cost

Fuel Allowance = $69.50 per day + Travel Time $85.00 per day = $154.30 + GST

The standard Locum fee is

$90/hr for Monday to Friday and
$95/hr for Saturday and Sunday

Travel Costs

Travel is calculated at the Govt. recommended Rate x 2 (for each way).

Travel is totalled by the combination of 2 costings..

Fuel Allowance $1.01/km and
Time Taken.

Both Fuel and Time is calculated via a simple google maps search that shows the distance & time from Tinana (QLD) to your pharmacy.

The time it takes to travel costs me money as this is time I could have worked at another pharmacy. Hence, any time over 1.5 hours is rounded to 1 days standard work (i.e. 8 hrs) at the standard weekday rate ($90/hr) regardless of if it is weekend travel or not. This saves you fees in weekend travel locum time and is done to be fair to us both.

Additionally, to ensure this travel time (and km travelled) is fair for you, actual travel time & distance (due to stops along the way etc.) are excluded from the expense to you and absorbed by me as the locum.

Maryborough / Hervery Bay > less than 7 days notice
Locations further than 40km from Marborough > 14 days notice

Hint: If I have even 1 day booked at another pharmacy, I will not break that booking to potentially earn significantly more for your perhaps full week request (which no doubt would be far more financially advantageous for me, but not 'honourable'). Take home message ACT FAST
